How to check your tyres are safe!
All tyres have a 1.6mm raised bar in many spots around the tyre between the tread blocks called a treat wear indicator. When the tread is level with the tread wear indicator at any point, the tyre is due to be changed. Continuing to use the tyre can be unsafe as the water cannot disperse between the tread and will cause the tyre to loose traction and aquaplane in the wet.
How to check your tyre size
The first three number are the most important to know the size of your tyre
- The width of the tyre is measured in millimetres.
- The height of the tyre is percentage of the width.
- The rim size is measured in inches.
Tyre inflation
Your tyres will show you if you have been running the correct pressures. The most common fault is under inflation, which cannot only reduce your tyre life by 30%, yet also decrease your fuel consumption by 10%.
